The Long Distance Journey project also embraces the creativity of Polish pianist Marcin Wasilewski, who has established his reputation as a longstanding collaborator of Tomasz Stanko and as leader of a trio that has released three albums under the ECM label. The concert will feature the project’s new compositions which Matković has devised in various musical forms, and based their structure on pursuing a profounder ambiental approach to improvisation and instrumental interplay. The search for an atmospheric moment in contemporary sound is the true reason behind Igor and Marcin’s creative partnership.
